Culture

The late Baroque Church of St. Procopius was built by the Carthusians from Valdice between 1761 and 1777. It stands on the outskirts of Sobčice, to the northeast, on a local road near the former château.

A Baroque ensemble depicting the Archangel Raphael with the young Tobias stands on the village green. This ensemble is considered an example of so-called radical Baroque in sculpture from the mid-18th century.

The wayside shrine complex known as Boží muka now stands in the fields of Sobčice. According to local legend, Maťátko had the shrine built in 1979 as penance for his wife.

Transport

Sobčice railway station is included in the IREDO integrated transport system. It is located on line 041 between Hradec Králové, Jičín and Turnov.

Nature

Sobčice lies on the right bank of the Javorka River. There are Quaternary sand deposits in the vicinity of Sobčice; agates, chalcedony, jaspers and carnelian can be found in their sand layers.

Local Life

The traditional Drakiáda took place on the sports field on 28 September 2024 and included kite-flying competitions. At Posvícení 2024, visitors could sample locally baked cakes, including cakes from Cukrovinky od máminky (Zdena Suchá).
