Sobotka: Hotels and Accommodation

Sobotka lies on the edge of the Bohemian Paradise.

Culture and History

Humprecht Chateau was built by the Italian architect Carlo Lurago between 1666 and 1668 as a summer and hunting residence for Count Humprecht Jan Czernin of Chudenitz. The building has an elliptical floor plan and a crescent moon as a roof finial, distinguishing it from other aristocratic residences. The viewing gallery on the second upper floor is 13 metres high and offers views of the distinctive landscapes of the Bohemian Paradise.

Šolcův statek, dating from 1811, is one of the best-preserved examples of folk architecture in the Bohemian Paradise. The Karla Samšiňák Gallery is located in Šolcův statek.

The Muzeum Fráni Šrámka is located directly on the square in Sobotka’s municipal information centre. It presents a modern exhibition combining literature, space and a multimedia experience. It includes the writer’s original study, his personal library and a Hall of Poetry.

The Kostel sv. Maří Magdaleny s farou church features an exceptional late Baroque interior created in the workshop of the Jelínek sculptors from Kosmonosy. Valdštejn is a church in the area surrounding Sobotka.
