Holčovice: Hotels and accommodations

The very well-preserved strip fields in Holčovice document the centuries-long cultivation of the landscape in the foothills of the Jeseníky Mountains. Holčovice lies on the Zlatá Opavice.

Culture and history

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary has been a state-protected cultural monument since 1988. The single-nave masonry building has a 30-meter-high tower. It was built between 1770 and 1774 on the site of an Evangelical church from the early 17th century.

The Africké muzeum in Holčovice displays various taxidermied animals at their natural size. Africké muzeum Safari in Holčovice includes a zoo park with live animals, including European bison and buffalo.

Landscape and views

Since 2013, the wooden Rozhledna Na Skalce observation tower has stood on the slope of Moravský kopec above Holčovice. From Rozhledna Na Skalce, there are views of the peaks of the Jeseníky Mountains and the Beskids, the Low Tatras, and Poland. The Africké muzeum in Holčovice is located near this observation tower.

Getting around

A yellow-marked hiking trail passes through Holčovice; a cycle path also runs through the village. A 3.5 km blue-marked hiking trail leads via the settlement of Horní Holčovice to Rozhledna Na Skalce.
