Žermanice: Hotels and Accommodation

Žermanice is a gateway to the Žermanická přehradní nádrž recreational area. The reservoir was built between 1951 and 1958 and is used for recreational purposes. Local cycling routes run along its shore in the vicinity of Žermanice.

Water and Landscape

Žermanický lom is an abandoned, currently flooded and partially backfilled teschenite quarry. It includes a secondary wetland habitat that developed in an abandoned teschenite quarry, with occurrences of protected plant and animal species. Numerous amphibians reproduce in the pools.

Culture

The reconstruction of the Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary improved its technical condition and appearance. An Advent concert featuring the Permoník mixed choir from Karviná took place in the chapel.

Experiences

Before its closure, Azyl & FaunaPark Blondies offered guided tours with commentary lasting 1 to 2 hours; afterwards, participants could freely visit the entire faunapark. On request, themed guided tours with commentary were offered covering poultry and waterfowl, pheasants, ratites such as ostriches, rabbits, rodents, cattle, ruminants such as horses and sheep, tortoises, and small predators such as meerkats, mongooses and raccoons. The park offered children the opportunity to try out what working as an animal keeper involves. Since 1 July 2026, Azyl & FaunaPark Blondies has been closed until further notice due to illness and construction work.
