Kojetín is a place where the city’s history, nature, and public cultural offerings can be experienced in many different ways.

Culture and History

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is the most significant architectural monument in the city of Kojetín. It is located near the main square on the Olomouc–Kroměříž road, which runs through the city center.

The former synagogue in Kojetín was built in the mid-15th century and is one of the oldest buildings in the city.

The Kojetín City Museum contains evidence of permanent settlement in the present-day city area since the Paleolithic period. The museum also displays examples of folk art, traditional costumes, and folk pottery, an extensive numismatic collection, and a significant collection of old prints.

For school and children’s groups, the City Museum offers guided tours led by information or museum staff, as well as accompanying programs available by prior arrangement. Groups must consist of at least three and no more than 20 people; for visits to the Hrůzostrašné sklepení, the maximum is ten people. Admission to the VIC Gallery and the museum’s permanent exhibition in Kojetín is free of charge.

Cultural Events

March in Kojetín is traditionally dedicated to amateur theater. This is when the regional qualifying showcase of amateur theater groups, Divadelní Kojetín, takes place.

Kojetínské hody has been celebrated every year since 1999 in mid-August as a three-day event with a traditionally varied program.

Nature and Water

The Naučná stezka Biocentrum Kojetín educational trail runs around the Na Hrázi pond and across a footbridge through part of the biocenter. Part of Biocentrum Kojetín consists of artificially created ponds and channels that support water-dependent animals.

The educational trail is suitable for children, families with children, schools, seniors, and tourists; it is also suitable for people with strollers and wheelchair users.

The Kojetín swimming pool complex features pools, a water slide, a kamikaze slide, a whirlpool, and other water attractions.
