Dřevohostice Castle is a four-wing Renaissance water castle. It was built on the site of a water fortress that already stood there before 1368 and is considered one of the most significant monuments of the Moravian Renaissance.
Culture and History
In the outer bailey area, on high pedestals on either side of the upper gate, stand valuable Baroque statues of Saint John of Nepomuk and Saint John Sarkander. A fire brigade museum is also located in the outer bailey area.
The “Maria” bell in the bell tower of Dřevohostice dates from 1721 and weighs 685 kilograms. The Renaissance brethren’s bell tower is a five-storey building standing 25 metres high; its current condition dates from 1581.
In Novosady, in front of house no. 359, stands a statue of Saint Roch. It is a folk Baroque sculpture from the second half of the 18th century. The Dřevohostice burial ground and the Dřevohostice-type jug are also well known to archaeologists.
The information centre at Dřevohostice Castle offers tours of the castle and the fire brigade museum. It also provides tourist maps and brochures.

The Dřevohostickým lesem educational trail presents the natural and historical features of the forest north of Dřevohostice.
