Landscape and Water

Náklo is a typical Haná municipality in the flat landscape in the centre of the Haná region, where one can still encounter the increasingly rare Haná dialect. The landscape and language represent two different characteristics of the place: its geographical location and a regional linguistic peculiarity.

Sport fishing is possible year-round in designated areas of the Pískovna lake. Swimming in Pískovna is permitted only in designated areas and at one's own risk. Water sports at Pískovna are possible only with the approval of the extraction company. The three activities therefore differ in their respective conditions: sport fishing is possible year-round, swimming is subject to designated areas and the stated restriction, while water sports require approval.

Culture and History

Náklo's recurring cultural calendar includes Vítání jara in March. Towards the end of the year, the Náklo Seniors' Club prepares an exhibition of Christmas pastries. The two events therefore take place in different parts of the year, combining a spring occasion with a Christmas-themed exhibition.

Kostel sv. Jiří was built on the site of an older structure between 1696 and 1698 at the expense of the Premonstratensians of Hradisko. The church is a stone Renaissance church with a Gothic core, situated on an elevated central site in Náklo where a castle once stood. The Kostel sv. Jiří grounds include a surrounding wall with a gate around the former cemetery. The construction history, Gothic core and former castle site thus belong to different historical periods of the same place; the surrounding wall with its gate completes the historic complex.
