Potštát: Hotels and Accommodation

Potštát Castle stands at the end of a flat spur of land built up by the town. It originated from a regularly laid-out Gothic fortress; the major conversion into a château took place at the beginning of the 17th century.

Culture and History

The historic centre of Potštát is lined, among other things, by the Church of Saint Bartholomew. The History of the Potštátsko Region exhibition, open since April 2014, presents the history of Potštátsko, including its local districts and the villages that disappeared within the Libavá Military Training Area.

The wooden Church of Saint John the Baptist stands in the Lipná district of Potštát. It is registered as a cultural monument, is considered the last surviving structure of its kind in the Oderské vrchy area, and acquired its present appearance through a renovation in 1746.

Rocks and Historic Sites

From Potštát, you can follow the Velička stream to Potštátské skalní město. The rock walls there consist of resistant Carboniferous sedimentary rocks and are more than 20 metres high. In the steep slopes of Potštátské skalní město, visitors can see the several-centuries-old ruins of Puchart Castle. The ruins of Pustý zámek, also known as Puchart, preserve the foundations, remnants of walls, as well as a ditch and rampart of a double castle.

Routes through Potštát

The Potštát–Boškov cycle path connects the cycle paths from Hranice with the cycle path towards Středolesí and Uhřínov. The Hipostezka na Potštátsku horse-riding trail also passes through Potštát. It is 31 kilometres long in total and offers two circular routes connecting horse farms, rest areas and horse-tethering points.
