Písečná: Hotels and accommodations

In Písečná, the six-kilometre-long Po stopách doby ledové educational trail leads through valleys, rock formations, moraine ridges and spring areas to Jeskyně Na Špičáku.

Nature and landscape

The Na Špičáku area is designated as a European Site of Community Importance. It is home to a regionally significant winter roost of the lesser horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus hipposideros). Jeskyně Na Špičáku runs through Mount Velký Špičák, which reaches 516 m above sea level and lies between Písečná and Supíkovice in the Supíkovická pahorkatina hills. The cave was first mentioned in writing in 1430.

The Po stopách doby ledové educational trail offers a view of Jezero Florián, a lake created by sandstone mining. Its information panels are complemented by educational and entertaining interactive elements. The trail also has a rest area for cyclists with a bicycle stand and solar charger.

Above Chebzí, the semi-dry meadows become an orchid-rich habitat in the spring months.

Culture and history

The Church of St. John the Baptist in Písečná was rebuilt into its present form in 1751–1752. The protected area includes the cemetery, the surrounding wall, the mortuary and the exterior staircase on the west side.

The Chapel in Chebzí is a wooden example of vernacular architecture dating from the end of the 19th century; its creator is unknown.
