Polomí: Hotels and Accommodations

Polomí is a linear village shaped by a village green, situated in a sloping valley at the northern end of the Drahany Highlands. The village green is lined with loosely arranged original single-story buildings with a mezzanine level in the roof area. The Polomský Stream rises directly in Polomí; it only re-emerges above ground below the built-up area.

History and Local Details

The probably oldest written mention of Polomí dates from May 20, 1301. The bell tower of Saint Martin dates from the late 18th century. The bell in the bell tower was cast in 1807 by Wolfgang Straub from Olomouc and bears reliefs of the Holy Family and Saint Barbara.

The sandstone wayside cross by the road dates from 1939. Both the corpus of Christ and the cross are made from a single piece of sandstone. The Freedom Lime Trees by the road were planted on October 28, 1928, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of Czechoslovakia. Near the lime trees and the cross stand Boží muka, which date from no later than the first third of the 19th century and depict Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, and Saint Ludmila.

The painter Josef Mánes is said to have stayed directly in Polomí several times.

Paths and Experiences

At the edge of the forest, beside the field path from the playground to the forester's lodge, hangs a picture of the Mother of God. A private horse stable in Polomí enables children to ride horses and also take part in activities associated with horse keeping.
