Samotišky: Hotels and Accommodation

Samotišky lies along two routes to Svatý Kopeček: the easy cycling route no. 6102 leads there from Bělkovice via Dolany, Toveř and Samotišky; the ascent to Svatý Kopeček along this route is also easy. For around three centuries, pilgrims and other visitors have travelled along the pilgrimage route from Olomouc–Chválkovice via Samotišky to Svatý Kopeček.

Culture and History

The history of the village dates back to the Middle Ages: the place name Samotišky first appears in a document issued by Bishop Jindřich Zdík of Olomouc in 1141. The remains of a Slavic settlement were also discovered during the extraction of brick clay. The municipality maintains a more recent tradition with the Svatofloriánské hody festival held in May; it has published a yearbook for the occasion since 1994.

Individual buildings and memorial sites also point to different periods. Svobodný dvůr in Samotišky was probably built in the second half of the 16th century. Construction of a wayside shrine was completed on 1 May 2004. In 1931, a chapel, more precisely a bell tower of the Czechoslovak Church, stood on municipal land near the primary school.

Pilgrimage and Architectural Forms

On the final section of the ascent from the built-up area of Samotišky to a meadow near the pilgrimage church, there are six statues erected on tall columns. Together, they form the so-called Komplex Bolestný růženec. Poutní alej na Svatém Kopečku is an example of Baroque landscape architecture. Together with the basilica on Svatý Kopeček and the side residences, Poutní alej forms a spatial Christian cross.

The churches Kostel Panny Marie Sněžné and Kostel sv.Michala are located in the surroundings of Samotišky. Pomník obětem 1. světové války is a memorial in the wider regional area around Samotišky.
