History and culture

The medieval and early modern center of Břežany is classified as a significant archaeological site. On the southern side of the road from Břežany to Malý Bor, about 0.5 km southeast of the edge of Břežany, stands a stone wayside shrine with a column. It is approximately 3 m high, bears the indistinct year 1738, and is made of coarse-grained granite.

The Chapel of Saint Anne near Břežany was built in 1760 under the patronage of the Horažďovice estate. It stands in a small grove above Břežany by a spring whose water is considered to have healing properties. A remarkable small-leaved lime tree shades the chapel; its trunk has a circumference of 430 cm, and the tree is approximately 24 m tall.
