Culture and History
A surviving Rožmberk urbarium mentions Cheznovice in 1374. From 1336 to 1426, Cheznovice belonged to the Rožmberk estate, which was assigned to the nearby domain of Zbiroh Castle.
In the past, Cheznovice had 25 nail-making workshops, known as Veřtaty, where 147 workers were employed. Iron ore was mined in the area around Cheznovice until 1875; the final mining operations took place in Žlebec.
Charcoal and forest salt, also known as Flus or potash, were formerly produced in the forests around Cheznovice.
The Zřícenina Valdek ruins are located near Cheznovice. The Týřov ruins are located in the wider surrounding region. The Church of U Svatého Petra and the Church of Svatý Martin are also located nearby.
