Vísky: Hotels and Accommodation

Vísky combines a preserved rural villagescape with the history of Homberk and other historical traces. Six cottages from the original timber-built development have survived. The oldest historical mention of Vísky dates from 1368 and records a share in Homberk Castle as well as landholdings in Vísky. A branch of the Buzic family chose Vísecká skála as the site of Homberk Castle; building materials from the abandoned castle were later used to rebuild Vísky.

History

Vísky was probably rebuilt only after the Thirty Years’ War on land belonging to the estate’s forests. In 1785, the village had 28 house numbers: six belonged to farmers, while the rest belonged to smallholders. Around 1890, Vísky had two inns, a tavern, and a liquor shop.

On the outskirts of Vísky, beside the former road to Skořice, stands a historic ornamental cast-iron cross from 1866, which was restored in 2003. A memorial to those who fell in the First World War was also erected in Vísky. The historic rural property Vísky No. 3 is a well-preserved enclosed farm complex with a regionally typical timber-built dwelling and brick agricultural buildings adapted to modern use, including former stables and a heavily reconstructed barn. Following the restitutions after 1990, the main wing of a château was opened to the public.

Nature

Homberk is a castle ruin built on two of the three peaks of Vísecká skála; the site lies away from marked trails.

The Padrťské rybníky are two ponds in the Brdská vrchovina highlands, in the so-called Central Brdy area. They were created in the 16th century as water reservoirs for floating timber to the ironworks located along the Padrťský potok stream. Protected plants and animals occur in the surrounding area, including white-tailed eagles, corncrakes, black storks, grey herons, and Eurasian otters.

Leisure

The pond known as “rybníček u Fialů” is used for swimming in summer. Cycle route 2147 passes through Vísky and continues from there along the main road towards Rokycany.
