Liblín combines a historically developed chateau complex with a landscape along the Berounka River. The chateau was converted into a Baroque chateau in the 18th century and acquired its present Neoclassical appearance through later alterations. Construction of the Church of Saint John of Nepomuk in Liblín began in 1751.
Culture and History
The Liblín chateau complex includes an English landscape park and numerous Baroque sculptures. The Baroque Church of Saint John of Nepomuk is also part of the chateau complex and is connected to the chateau building by a bridge. The former chateau park contains a statue of Saint Margaret of Antioch, a Baroque work dating from 1758. The bridge over the Berounka in Liblín is also a cultural monument.
Liblín is considered a place first mentioned in writing in 1180. The surrounding area includes the Church of Saint Martin and the hill (Nad hřbitovem) [Kladruby-Hřešihlavy]. In the wider regional surroundings of Liblín are the Týřov ruins, the Church of Saint Peter and the Valdek ruins.
Nature
Liblín is located in the Berounka Nature Park. Its protected landscape includes the deeply incised valley of the Berounka and its tributaries, rock outcrops, adjacent forest complexes and agricultural land.
The nearby area includes Bílý vrch hill [Kozojedy u Kralovic]. Berdovna is a mountain near Liblín, while Holý vrch is a mountain in the wider regional surroundings. The “Liblín – lihovar” site is also home to a regionally significant wintering site of the greater mouse-eared bat (Myotis myotis).
Things to Do
The chateau park is freely accessible to the public; visitors can admire historic statues while taking walks there.
On the circular hiking trail “Berounka and the Radnický potok Valley”, the logs across the Radnický potok are impassable; the stream must be forded.
