The area around Hůrky belongs to Trhoň Nature Park, which was established to protect the character of the landscape and its concentrated aesthetic and natural values. Hůrky has two bus stops.
Natural Environment
Trhoň Nature Park was established in 1979 and covers approximately 45 km². The peaks around Hůrky include the 627-metre-high Žďár.
The Hůrecký stream is the only significant watercourse in the Hůrky area. It rises in the forests about 2 km east of Hůrky and is a left-bank tributary of the Holoubkovský stream. The valley below Žďár along the Hůrecký stream is a habitat of the nationally significant, specially protected stone crayfish (Austropotamobius torrentium).
History and Architectural Heritage
In 1379, Hůrky is mentioned as “villa Horka” in the Rožmberk urbarium as part of the Strašice estate. In the Theresian Cadastre, nine farmsteads and a blacksmith are recorded for Hůrky in the second half of the 18th century.
The chapel in Hůrky is an architecturally significant building. The area with the chapel is an important urban design element in Hůrky.
Winter
In Hůrky and its surroundings, there are several cross-country skiing trails in winter when there is sufficient snow.
