Holoubkov: Hotels and Accommodation

Holoubkov can be explored through specific natural and cultural landmarks: Holoubkovský rybník is a 14.5-hectare pond extending from the village centre approximately one kilometre towards Mýto. In the forest lies Hamerský rybník, also called Lamacký or Lamanický, about 0.5 kilometres below Holoubkov.

Nature and Trails

Holoubkovský potok is considered the most important watercourse in this part of the Rokycany District. Cycle Route 2158 from Rokycany to Strašice passes through Holoubkov; the red KČT hiking trail 0209 from Rokycany to Zbiroh also runs through the village. A blue connecting route leads through the village to the Nad Mýtem signpost. Further afield, south of Holoubkov, rises the Trhoň Massif, which together with the surrounding forests forms Trhoň Nature Park. Trails run through the forests across picturesque slopes offering views of the surrounding area.

History and Culture

The history of Holoubkov is closely connected with iron smelting and the development of metallurgical and engineering companies, which rank among the oldest in Bohemia. A new blast furnace was completed beside Holoubkovský rybník in 1662 at the order of the Royal Chamber. In 1840, the local engineering works produced its first hand-operated lathe and is among the oldest manufacturers of machine tools in Czechia. Markova vila, house number 123, is also registered in Holoubkov as an immovable cultural monument. In addition, an archaeological area of Category I has been designated here; archaeological finds from prehistory and from the Middle Ages through the modern period have been documented or are reasonably presumed to be present there.

Everyday Life and Events

In the centre of Holoubkov stands a self-service stall that is regularly restocked with the seasonal products of Farma Liblín. The “Slet a pálení čarodějnic” event was held in Holoubkov for its 14th edition. It included a fancy-dress competition, a disco, prize competitions, sausage grilling and refreshments.
