Ledce was first mentioned in documents from 1180 to 1182.

History

Kaolin was mined in Ledce until 1968 and processed there until 1975. The village’s landmarks include the Romanesque Church of St. James and a Baroque rectory dating from around 1760. The church’s current appearance is the result of Gothic and Baroque alterations. It has a rectangular nave, a narrower chancel, a square western tower, a sacristy, and a chapel.

Below Ledce, at the confluence of the Třemošenka and Bělský streams, lies the Dubský Mill, also called Dolní ledecký mlýn. It was probably built in the 14th century. The surviving mill buildings now have no interior furnishings.

Surroundings

Farmapark u Toma can be visited spontaneously during opening hours without prior reservation. In the vicinity of Ledce are Berdovna Hill and the church Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral. The nearby area also includes Stráž Hill [Chotíkov] and Orlík Hill [Třemošná-Záluží].

Nature and Views

The Krkavec Lookout Tower can be reached on foot and by bicycle; three marked hiking trails in red, blue, and green lead to its summit. The 18-meter-high stone lookout tower was opened in 1901.
