Cekov: Hotels and Accommodation

Cekov can be explored through its local history and the 44-hectare Cekovský rybník pond. The area around Cekovský rybník is used for walks and time spent in nature.

History and Village Character

The first written mention of Cekov dates back to 1273. The original settlement below the so-called Bukovská silnice was destroyed by fire during the Hussite Wars.

After Ladislav the Elder of Lobkowicz created the Salm pond in 1585 on the site of three abandoned settlements, Cekov was rebuilt in its present location. Cekov was burned down again in 1639, and in 1680 the village was struck by a plague epidemic.

A small chapel stands on the village green in Cekov. Next to the chapel is a monument to the victims of both world wars.

Nature and Trails

The Kařezské rybníky natural monument lies partly within the cadastral area of Cekov and protects a 65.0355-hectare breeding and stopover site for waterbirds.

Cekov offers opportunities for hiking and cycling on well-maintained paths. One route leads through the “průhon” and across the Cekovská footbridge over the motorway into the surroundings of Kařezské rybníky.

Another route leads over the small dam of Cekovský rybník and through Buk onward to Zbiroh.

Another route leads from Cekov via Sirá and Sirská hora toward Radeč.

Geographical Location

Road II/605 connects Cekov directly with the D5 motorway between Prague and Plzeň.
