Medový Újezd: Hotels and Accommodation

The first written mention of Medový Újezd dates from 1336, when Petr of Rožmberk received, among other things, half of the village of Medový Újezd as hereditary property from King John of Luxembourg.

Culture and History

In the lower part of Medový Újezd stands a monument unveiled in May 1923 to six soldiers who fell in the First World War; it was later supplemented with a plaque commemorating the victims of the fascist occupation.

A characteristic historic building is the two-storey wooden house No. 15. It has a stone or masonry ground floor, a timber-framed upper floor, a mansard roof and an inhabited gallery; it dates from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The cottage No. 9 in Medový Újezd dates from the first half of the 19th century.

The swimming pool complex in Medový Újezd has a sauna, refreshments with a summer terrace, sanitary facilities and a hard court for tennis and ball sports. During the summer months, the local swimming pool complex is used by residents, holidaymakers and people from the surrounding municipalities.

Nature

The Medový Újezd Nature Monument protects a significant palaeontological site from the Cambrian of Central Bohemia in the Lingulella matthewi subzone. In connection with Medový Újezd, the PP Medový Újezd Nature Monument and Trhoň Nature Park are among the protected areas.

On the Way

The “Přes Trhoň” route passes through Medový Újezd twice. Medový Újezd is a starting point for a hike up Trhoň mountain and for crossing the Brdy Ridge towards the Vartemberk (Vimberk) castle ruins.
