Podmokly: Hotels and Accommodations

The first historical mention of Podmokly dates back to 1045. At the same time, the village is part of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area.

Culture

Today’s Podmokly Chateau was built in 1707 by Count Karel Michna of Vacínov. A significant remnant of the Podmokly fortress was investigated from 1832 to 1836. By 30 July 1771, the Podmokelský treasure comprised a total of 4,211 Celtic gold coins weighing 28 kilograms.

The Calvary complex is a significant Baroque sandstone work from the 18th century and stands northeast of Podmokly on the road to Hradiště. The monument to František Froňek and the heroes of the anti-fascist resistance was unveiled on 22 May 1975. The official list of monuments in Podmokly includes the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk as well as the statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

In 2023, the old Bohemian May festivities, Staročeské máje, took place again in Podmokly after a three-year break.

Nature

The ruins of Týřov, Holý vrch mountain, the U Svatého Petra Church, and the Svatý Martin Church are located in the vicinity of Podmokly. Hřeben mountain and the Zřícenina Valdek ruins are located in the wider regional surroundings of Podmokly. The nearby area includes Lípa Hill [Ostrovec-Lhotka] and Dubensko Hill [Chříč].

A blue-marked hiking trail through the valley of the Zbirožský potok stream is named Cesta protifašistických bojovníků.

Activities

The multipurpose sports field in Podmokly is intended for active recreation for the general public of all age groups, especially young people. Tennis, small-sided football, volleyball, nohejbal, and basketball can be played on the multipurpose sports field.
