The Church of St Nicholas in Potvorov is a unique late Romanesque fortified tribune church.
Culture and History
At a crossroads on the southern edge of Potvorov stands a stone wayside shrine dating from 1750. About 400 metres beyond Potvorov, on the road to Žihle, stands a stone reconciliation cross; it belongs to a valuable group of small monuments. The boundary post on the village square in Potvorov marked the boundary between the Rabštejn and Plasy estates in the second quarter of the 19th century. Potvorov is also home to a well-preserved log house, which belongs to one of the oldest types of construction. The Potvorov vicarage is a late Baroque building from the group of buildings belonging to Plasy Monastery.
Cycling and Nature
The 37-kilometre Baroko I cycle path runs through Potvorov. Odlezelské jezero, a lake formed by a landslide dam, together with the associated landslide area, is protected. A blue-marked hiking trail from Potvorov railway stop provides access to Odlezelské jezero.
