Bukovník: Hotels and Accommodation

In Bukovník, the Muzeum Špejchar features an exhibition about life in the Bukovnicko region around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum is housed in a freestanding grain barn dating from the mid-19th century with a half-hipped roof. Nearby, a Baroque Calvary group commemorates the site of the former cemetery. From May to September, the museum is open by prior arrangement only.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Wenceslas is an important example of Romanesque religious architecture dating from around 1240. The church was remodeled in the Baroque style in the 17th century and is surrounded by a cemetery with an enclosing wall. On the Na Krchůvku hill on the edge of Bukovník, three large cast-iron crosses mark a former cemetery that was closed at the end of the 19th century. The history of the Kludský Circus is also connected with the village: its founder came from Bukovník, more precisely from a cottage called “u Počtů.”

Landscape

The surroundings of Bukovník include Sedlo Mountain [Sušice-Albrechtice], Vysoký Mountain, Svatobor Mountain and Popelná hora Mountain. In the wider regional area lies the ruin of the Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast.

The Czech section of the Jan Filip Lamberg route is suitable for cycling along almost its entire length.
