Culture and Local History

Újezd u Svatého Kříže lies within the Berounka Nature Park and combines distinctive sacred buildings with a rural culture of remembrance. The niche chapel has a rendered rectangular structure, a semicircular vaulted niche, a triangular gable and a pitched roof covered with tiles.

One of the defining buildings is the church “Kostel sv. Kříže”, built in the Baroque style in 1777. The single-nave building has a rectangular, enclosed presbytery and a tower forming part of the western façade. Its furnishings include altar paintings and vault paintings by the painter Karel Mašek.

The village museum “Svaťácká sednice” is open to visitors. Svaťácká sednice is a room in which household items and objects from the domestic environment have been collected. It also includes a room with a small exhibition of memorabilia commemorating Karel Gott.

Nature and Landscape

Berounka Nature Park protects the preserved landscape character of the Berounka Valley, with rock outcrops, adjacent forests, agriculturally used areas and historically valuable village architecture. In the western part of the cadastral area lies a Bronze Age burial mound site of the Milavčer culture.

In the southern part of the municipality, a European white elm is listed as a commemorative tree.

Hiking and Cycling

A yellow hiking trail runs through Újezd u Svatého Kříže. It is 7.5 km long and has an elevation profile of 184 m. For cyclists, the 6.5 km-long “Zelený okruh” cycle route runs directly through the village. The “Velká Radná” cycle route also begins in Újezd u Svatého Kříže and follows the stream of the same name to Darová.

The cycling options also include a mountain bike trail park with several routes of varying difficulty levels and lengths. “Svaťácké zastavení” is a village park with a rest area suitable for cyclists. The 1.5 km-long “Svaťák” mountain bike trail is laid out as a loop; a local race is held on it every year.
