Radnice: Hotels and accommodations

Radnice Castle is an early Baroque castle built before 1673; its present appearance dates from the period after 1719.

Culture and history

Around 1745, an important Baroque building was constructed in Radnice at the expense of Jan Václav z Bubna a Litic, probably based on a design by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.

The Muzeum Josefa Hyláka was founded in 1892 as the first museum in the Rokycany District. It is housed in a burgher house from the first third of the 18th century, which later became part of the castle complex.

Radnice Synagogue houses an eco-center that can be visited. About 1.5 km southeast of the town, on the edge of the forest, lies the Jewish cemetery of Radnice. It contains 210 graves with epitaphs in Hebrew, Czech, and German.

Nature and trails

In the vicinity of Radnice, the Ovčín locality is the subject of intensive paleontological research; volcanic ash buried the fossil flora there at the site of its original growth.

The Rokycany District has marked hiking trails as well as well-maintained forest paths with rest areas.

The Za přírodou a historií Radnicka educational trail focuses on geological, paleontological, dendrological, botanical, and cultural features and comprises three accessible loop trails.

The Radnický okruh is 2.3 km long and leads to sights in Radnice and its immediate surroundings. The Hylákův okruh is 12.8 km long and starts in Radnice's town square. The Šternberský okruh is suitable for cyclists, is 24 km long, and starts at Kašpar-Šternberk Square in Radnice.

Visiting

The Radnice Tourist Information Center provides information and guide services and has bicycle racks. From April to October, guided tours of Radnice's historic beer cellars take place; outside the tourist season, they are available on request.
