Nature and Wildlife

Hodonín U Kunštátu combines nature, culture, relaxation and water at named locations. Hodonín Zoo is located on the edge of the Dúbrava floodplain forest in the northwestern part of Hodonín. The zoo currently houses around 400 animals from approximately 100 species. The enclosures for the big cats are among the special attractions for visitors. The Hodonínská Dúbrava forest lies between Hodonín, Dubňany and Mutěnice. In its most valuable section, a national nature monument was designated in 2014 on an area of 683.18 hectares.

Hodonínská Dúbrava Visitor Centre

The newly opened Dům přírody Hodonínské Dúbravy visitor centre is located on the northern outskirts of Hodonín in the Bažantnice area, near Hodonín Zoo, the Hodonínská Dúbrava national nature monument and the sports hall. Its exhibition describes unique fragments of oak forests in the surroundings of Hodonín and introduces visitors to the local fauna and flora. The focus is on fragments of oak forest as well as the animal and plant life of the surrounding area.

Masaryk, Art and Regional History

The permanent T. G. Masaryk exhibition is located in the Baroque chateau of the Masarykovo muzeum in Hodonín. It traces Masaryk’s life from childhood through his studies, his work in Vienna and his scientific and political activities from 1882 to 1918, up to his presidency. It also covers his family life until his death in 1937, as well as his legacy. The exhibition therefore encompasses political, scientific and private periods of his life.

The Galerie výtvarného umění in Hodonín presents modern and contemporary art to the public. It systematically presents its programme through exhibitions, publications, as well as accompanying and educational programmes. These formats range from exhibitions and publications to educational support. The Muzeum ropy provides visitors with information about the formation and accumulation of crude oil and natural gas, extraction methods, and the effects of exploration and extraction. It also addresses the industrial and independent history of the region. Its thematic scope ranges from natural processes to technical procedures and regional industrial history.

Relaxation, Water and Views

Lázně Hodonín offers targeted therapeutic and rehabilitation treatments as well as relaxation. Přístaviště U Jezu in Hodonín offers boat trips on the Morava River and the Baťa Canal. The Morava River and the Baťa Canal are two explicitly named waterways for these trips. The Hodonín town hall tower is a 40-metre-high observation tower, which visitors reach via 150 steps. The 150 steps make the ascent a clearly defined activity; the tower can therefore be planned as a separate highlight of a visit. Therapeutic treatments, waterways and viewpoints each represent distinct focal points in Hodonín.
