Dlažkovice lies at the foot of the Bohemian Central Uplands (České středohoří). There are two ponds in the center of the village, along with religious buildings, a château protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, and a historic park.

Nature and village character

The château park in Dlažkovice is an elongated English landscape park south of the château. It includes an irregularly shaped pond. Parts of the park were converted into terraced kitchen gardens, while historic ornamental shrubs and trees have survived as relics.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Wenceslas in Dlažkovice has been mentioned as a parish church since 1259. The protected ensemble comprises the church building, the bell tower, and the surrounding wall. The Baroque church dates from the second half of the 17th century. Next to it stands a Baroque bell tower with old bells from the 15th and 17th centuries. A simple bell tower was built next to the church in the 16th century.

The village character also includes a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk and the High Baroque statue of Saint Barbara, which stands on a pedestal with a concrete base. Dlažkovice and neighboring Podsedice are known for the mining of Bohemian garnets (pyropes).

Château and historic traces

Dlažkovice Château belonged to the Schönborn family until the land reform of 1924. Its surviving appearance dates back to a Baroque remodeling carried out from 1713 to 1717; today, the château is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Access to the château grounds is restricted because a children's home with special schools is located there.
