Podsedice: Hotels and Accommodation

Podsedice lies at the southeastern foot of the Bohemian Central Uplands; the northern part of the area lies within the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. Podsedice is mentioned in marginal notes to the founding charter of the Litoměřice Chapter, which historians date to 1057 or 1058.

History

The fortress of Podsedice is mentioned for the first time in 1549. In 1770, a manor-owned “granate factory” for grinding and further processing Bohemian garnets was established in Podsedice. The historic “granate factory” also included the production of jewellery, which was sold domestically and exported abroad.

Transport Connections

The “Švestková dráha” railway line runs through the Podsedice area and provides connections to regional centres such as Litoměřice and Most.

Things to Do

The area around Podsedice has the marked “Cyklotrasy Českého granátu” cycling route network, with routes 3118, 3119 and 25A between Lovosice, Třebívlice and Libochovice. A short cycling loop in this network begins in Třebenice and follows route 25A below Košťálov to Teplá and onwards to Vlastislav, where the Skalka castle ruins and a château are located.

The ruins of Košťálov Castle are also located near Podsedice, on the summit of a 481.5-metre-high basalt hill near Třebenice. In the area around Podsedice, the château park in Třebívlice contains a pavilion with the Ulrika von Levetzow Museum. The ruins of Oltářík Castle (Hrádek) rise above the Děkovka district.

Wine

In the area around Podsedice, the modern Johann W winery in Třebívlice offers visits, wine tastings and a restaurant experience by prior arrangement.
