Žiželice: Hotels and Accommodation

Žiželice has a clearly dated historical landmark in the Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary: it was built in 1660, remodelled in the Baroque style at the beginning of the 18th century, and extensively restored from 2013 to 2017.

Culture and History

In front of house no. 23 at the turn-off for the road to Hořetice stands a Baroque stone cross dating from 1773. A traditional local name also points to the past: at the beginning of the 20th century, a plot of land in Žiželice was still referred to as “at the vineyard”; the name confirms that grapevines were formerly cultivated there.

In Hořetice u Žiželic, the Church of St. Lawrence contains valuable late Gothic plaster layers. It was originally a single-nave Gothic building. Today, it is considered an important source for research into the development of medieval sacred architecture in this area.

Leisure and Transport

The local amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, which is also used in summer by people from outside the municipality. Transport connections include both a bus stop and a railway stop.

Children’s Days were held at the sports complex in Žiželice in 2024 and 2025; another Children’s Day has been announced for 27 June 2026.

Nature and Cycle Route

In Stroupeč, there are semi-natural dry grasslands and shrub formations on calcareous substrates. The area is one of the most important sites for heat- and drought-loving invertebrate fauna.

A section of the Ohře Cycle Route near the municipality of Stroupeč has been completed with a new bituminous road surface; it lies on the route between Nechranice and Žatec. The 4th stage of the Ohře Cycle Route passes through Přívlaky and Stroupeč; the route listing extends as far as Žatec. A nature trail to a group of protected summer oak trees also leads through the surroundings of the Stroupeč settlement.
