Kostomlaty pod Milešovkou: Hotels and Accommodation

The Březina educational trail begins and ends at the ponds below Kostomlaty Castle in Kostomlaty pod Milešovkou. It is 7 km long and has a moderate level of difficulty. An unmarked 300-metre branch leads from the educational trail to Kostomlaty Castle, while a marked 500-metre branch leads to Vojenský rybník.

Nature

The Březina Natura 2000 site comprises a pond, a meadow on a basalt plateau, old beech stands on the eastern slopes, and a small peat bog. The great crested newt is designated as the protected feature of the site. The Březina Nature Reserve can be reached via the red-marked hiking trail between Černčice and Lukov; this trail is accessible from the Kostomlaty–Milešov road.

Culture

The ruins of Kostomlaty Castle offer views of the surrounding landscape. Kostomlaty Castle was founded around 1300 by the Lords of Rýzmburk, and its keep now serves as a lookout tower.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Help was built in 1825 at a pilgrimage site that had existed since the 18th century. A spring rises behind its altar and is channelled into an adjacent spring protection area above the well.
