Chbany: Hotels and Accommodation

Vikletice has been part of the municipality of Chbany since 1963 and is located on the right bank of the Nechranice Reservoir. The greatest concentration of campsites, beaches and recreational facilities at the Nechranice Reservoir is located on the right bank near Vikletice.

Water and Shoreline

The Nechranice Reservoir is a body of water in an open landscape covering more than 1,300 hectares. In spring and autumn, favorable winds make it suitable for sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing; in summer, it is used for swimming and fishing.

The Nechranice Yacht Club is located on the southern shore of the reservoir in the central shoreline area near Vikletice and serves as a base for sailing and water sports. It has facilities for regional and international sailing competitions, including jetties, a docking basin and concrete ramps for launching boats. The activities offered by its members include windsurfing, kitesurfing, wingsurfing, as well as recreational and competitive sailing.

Culture and History

Poláky Chateau is protected as a cultural monument. The public tour presents life at a rural aristocratic estate during the First Republic and opened in 2024. The tour includes 12 rooms; it can take place with a guided commentary or independently using printed texts and at your own pace.

Near Poláky was an extensive cemetery of the Bylany culture dating from the 7th to the 5th century BC, from which 54 graves were excavated. One of the most extensive Celtic settlements in Europe, with almost 60 graves, was also investigated in the area of Soběsuky.

The Church of Saint Martin in Soběsuky was first mentioned in papal tithe registers in 1369 and was remodeled in the Baroque style around that time. The Baroque group of figures of Saint John of Nepomuk at the church entrance dates from 1724. An early Baroque Marian column on the village square in Soběsuky dates from 1694.

The Baroque Chapel of Saint Anne in Vikletice was built in 1744–1745 and restored in 1909–1910. It has a Rococo high altar with a painting of Saint Anne created in 1910 by the Prague painter Joseph Wünsch.

Landscape and Views

The grounds of the Church of Saint Martin in Soběsuky are surrounded by a cemetery wall and lie above the deeply incised valley of the Ohře. Near Soběsuky stands a protected acacia tree designated as a memorial tree; it is approximately 200 years old and has a trunk circumference of 330 centimeters at a height of 1.3 meters.

From the observation tower in Vikletice, there are views over the Nechranice Reservoir, the Ore Mountains, the Doupov Mountains and the Džbán Highlands. The observation tower in Vikletice may be entered with the consent of the owner of the Holiday Centrum. It is 13.8 meters high, and 54 steps lead to its observation platform.

In the wider regional area, marked cycle paths lead to the Nechranice Reservoir from Chomutov, Kadaň and Žatec.
