Pesvice: Hotels and accommodations

Pesvice combines a history first documented in writing in 1290 with remarkable evidence of regional and aviation history. These include the listed Chapel of St. Joseph, the wayside shrine “Boží muka,” and Pesvice Airport, which is still used for sport and recreational flying today.

History and architectural heritage

The Chapel of St. Joseph was built in Pesvice in the first half of the 19th century. It is a protected historic monument and is a single-nave building with a semicircular apse and a prismatic bell tower above the entrance. Another historical detail can be found at house no. 70: The wayside shrine “Boží muka” bears the years 1819 and 1939 and stands behind a fence near road no. 251.

Beer and hops

The history of beer and hops is also connected with Pesvice. In 1571, the village was one of 20 villages in which the citizens of Chomutov held a monopoly on beer sales. Hops have been cultivated in Pesvice since the mid-18th century.

Pesvice Airport

The airport is located in the cadastral areas of Pesvice and Otvice. It is still used for sport and recreational flying today and serves small motor aircraft, ultralight aircraft, helicopters, and gliders. A flight school operates at the airport. The Chomutov Aeroclub offers introductory flights there in a CESSNA 172 or an L13 BLANÍK glider.
