Velemyšleves: Hotels and Accommodations

In Velemyšleves, on the northern edge of the village along the main road, stands the Neo-Romanesque Chapel of Saint Anthony, built in 1863. The village also has a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1746 near house number 90.

Nature

About 800 metres southeast of the centre lies the northern part of the protected Natura 2000 site Stráně nad Chomutovkou. It protects fragments of saline meadows and xerothermic grasslands with rare halophytes.

Cycling and Trails

Cycle route 3034 runs through Velemyšleves on the Postoloprty–Výškov–Velemyšleves–Chomutov route. Its total length is given as 27.93 km. The “Údolím říčky Chomutovky” route also follows the Chomutovka valley from Velemyšleves to Chomutov.

Culture and History

A Baroque barn dating from 1736 stands in the farmyard of the former chateau complex. Today, only the farm buildings and the park of the former chateau complex are protected as heritage sites. At the site of the former chateau complex, a fortification from the 14th century was followed by a second fortification from the 16th century and subsequently by a Baroque chateau. The former chateau complex lost its main building in 1989.

North of Velemyšleves, on the left side of the road towards Most, an archaeological site is located in a former sand pit. The archaeological site of Velemyšleves is the largest researched settlement of the Knovíz culture in Bohemia.

Since 2016, the Church of Saint Martin in Minice and its interior furnishings have been undergoing restoration.
