Valdíkov lies in a gentle valley depression on the shore of the Valdíkovský Pond, which covers 16.7 hectares. Below the village lies the Opatský Pond, covering an area of 12.9 hectares. The water from the ponds of Valdíkov is drained via the Mlýnský Potok to the Jihlava River.
Nature
The Valdíkovský Pond is part of a pond landscape that originated in the 14th century and whose construction was associated with a Benedictine convent. For the time being, the Doubrava retention reservoir serves exclusively aquatic animals. A marked cycle path towards Valdíkov runs in the immediate vicinity of the retention reservoir.
Culture and History
The Opatský Mill is located at a weir below the Opatský Pond on the Mlýnský Potok. Its origins date back to the 14th century, while its more recent history begins in 1721. The Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity in Valdíkov dates from 1874.
In connection with the founding of a Benedictine monastery in 1101, Valdíkov is listed among the settlements mentioned. Every year, Valdíkov hosts a church fair for the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity, held around the transition from May to June.
The Opatský Mill Equestrian Club offers five sleeping places under a shelter as well as space for ten tents.
