Žeranovice in the foothills of the Hostýnské hory
Žeranovice lies in the foothills of the Hostýnské hory, on the border between Haná, Valašsko and Slovácko. The village is situated partly on a hill and partly in a valley. The Žeranovka stream flows through Žeranovice, while the Židelná stream touches the village on its eastern side.
The three regional affiliations place the village within different regional areas, while the hills, valley and waterways determine its more immediate spatial structure. Culture
The present-day building of the Church of St. Lawrence in Žeranovice was ceremonially consecrated on October 21, 1900. The former windmill near Žeranovice stood until 1935 and was demolished because of its considerable deterioration.
The statue of Saint Joseph in Žeranovice was created in 1759, redesigned in 1920, and has been a cultural monument since May 3, 1958. The statue of Saint Vendelin is a late Baroque sculpture dated to 1760 and has likewise been a cultural monument since May 3, 1958.
The village’s cultural profile thus includes a present-day sacred building, the former windmill that no longer survives, and two protected sculptures. Their different states of preservation and dates provide several distinct points of reference for viewing the history.
History and Terrain
The Hrádek Tvrziště is a small, well-preserved remnant of a fortified feudal manor that is clearly recognizable in the terrain. The core of the Hrádek Tvrziště is surrounded by a 20- to 25-meter-wide ditch, which is complemented on the outside by a low rampart.
The Hrádek site is now accessible via a path leading from the west along the edge of the valley. The path, width of the ditch and state of preservation describe the site from different perspectives and can be considered separately when planning.
The site thus combines a clearly recognizable terrain setting with preserved remnants of its former fortifications. The low rampart complements the ditch, while the location of the path along the edge of the valley determines the spatial context of the Hrádek Tvrziště.

Architectural Heritage
Despite numerous alterations, several original architectural elements have been preserved in Žeranovice Chateau, including stone hipped-roof vaults in the basement rooms and a remnant of the original entrance to the former fortress. Žeranovice Chateau acquired its present Neo-Gothic appearance through the Seilern family.
Today, the chateau houses the municipal office, a library, a hall for social events and, on the ground floor, a restaurant.
The chateau therefore brings together preserved structural elements of the former fortress, its Neo-Gothic appearance and its present-day use. The rooms and facilities belong to different periods: architectural traces point to the past, while the municipal office, library, event hall and restaurant form the current use.
