Růžďka: Hotels and accommodations

The Žaba rock formation in the cadastral area of Růžďka is considered a tourist destination and offers far-reaching views of the surrounding area.

Nature

The Louky pod Štípou natural monument protects remnants of flower-rich meadows with orchids and specially protected plant species. These include, in particular, the military orchid, common spotted orchid, gladiolus imbricatus and broad-leaved marsh orchid.

The Růžděcký Vesník natural monument lies on the eastern edge of the settlement of the same name. It is a former juniper pasture on a slope between forests and protects a juniper pasture. Růžděcký Vesník also has flower-rich meadows with a large population of the burnt orchid.

The Lúčky–Roveňky natural monument lies in the cadastral area of Růžďka, about 1 km below the municipality. It protects wet meadows and slope springs with rare orchids and other rare wetland plants. Rare animals such as the large red damselfly, blue-eyed hawker, small red damselfly, ruddy darter, common toad, yellow-bellied toad, fire salamander, viviparous lizard, sand lizard and slow worm may occur there.

Culture and history

The present-day Church of Saint Bartholomew in Růžďka was built in 1807. Its wooden high altar was made in 1891 by the School of Woodworking in Valašské Meziříčí; the altarpiece of Saint Bartholomew was created in 1878 by the painter Schindler from Vsetín.

Růžďka has a monument erected in 1927 to the Protestants murdered in 1777. Home-based work is also part of the local history: the production of knives, particularly Křivák knives, was Růžďka’s most widespread form of home-based work.

Routes and destinations

The route to the Žaba rock formation leads from the Růžďka municipal office or from the terminus along a local road to the Dušná guesthouse and then for approximately 1 km along a forest path. The Klenov educational trail is 7 km long.

The Poledník obelisk is approximately 3 km away on foot from the Růžďka municipal office via unmarked local paths. The red hiking route and cycle routes 6018 and 6119 run through the site. The approximately 3 m-high obelisk has an opening through which a ray of sunlight passes at a specific time; this time is marked on the obelisk as a calendar.
