The Hviezdna sála offers visitors astronomical films with fulldome projection in 4K resolution. There are 60 seats available for visitors. In addition, the astronomical observatory of the Krajská hvezdáreň a planetárium Maximiliána Hella offers public astronomical observations. Film screenings in the star hall and observations at the observatory therefore constitute two different astronomical offerings.
The Plážové kúpalisko outdoor swimming pool is also associated with various activities. Visitors can hire equipment there for badminton and football with small-sided goals, as well as for table tennis, nohejbal, Russian skittles, beach volleyball, tennis, and soft tennis. The non-swimmer pool at the outdoor swimming pool has a 43-metre water slide. The Slovalco Relax Centrum Žiar nad Hronom also includes the municipal indoor swimming pool.
History
Below Šibeničný vrch, the Jewish Cemetery preserves the remains of several gravestones and is part of the Svätokrížsky educational trail. The votive chapel stands at the so-called Skalka, in front of the entrance to Žiar nad Hronom from the direction of Kremnica. It was built in 1709–1711 on the initiative of the Heiligenkreuz parish priest František Hajnovič. A cultural site in Žiar nad Hronom commemorates the vanished municipality of Horné Opatovce; it is considered its largest and only cultural site of this kind.
