Medovarce: Church, Wine Growing and the Zlatá cesta
Medovarce lies in the southern part of the Krupinská planina and in a valley enclosed on all sides. The Krupinica flows through the municipality. The landscape, architectural history and traditional regional customs together shape the different facets of the village.
Culture
A prominent landmark of Medovarce is the evangelical church. It was built in 1832. The church interior contains a Classical organ dating from 1820, built by an unknown master. There is also a Late Gothic–Renaissance baptismal font made of hewn stone, dating from around 1500. A more than 500-year-old linden tree also grows near the evangelical church.
History
A historical link to the region’s past is shown by the Zlatá cesta, which ran along a hollow way on the outskirts of Medovarce. A historic inn stood beside the Zlatá cesta near Medovarce. Both references form part of the traditional history of the village and its routes, without implying any present-day use or accessibility.
Regional Traditions
Historic wine growing with several varieties of own-rooted vines played an important role in Medovarce. These vines are called Samorodáky. Beekeeping is also connected with the history of the village. It was widespread in Hont County in the 17th and 18th centuries, and bees were also kept in Medovarce. Medovina or Medovica was made from honey.
Water and Mills
The Pavla Hajnala water mill in Medovarce dates from the 19th century and has survived to this day with part of its original technical equipment. Medovarce also has a comparatively well-preserved water mill that is privately owned.
A warm spring with a constant temperature of around 20°C is located on the main road toward Rykynčice.
For specific offers, included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions may be important for comparison. Check which scope of services and total costs are shown in each case. Also pay attention to included services, occupancy, accommodation type and the exact location, if these fields are specified in the offer. The payment date, possible additional costs and the validity of individual conditions may also be regulated differently. Compare these points separately and refer to the conditions currently shown for the respective offer. It is also worth taking a separate look at occupancy, accommodation type and the stated location. Check whether the price is shown per night, per stay or according to another unit, and whether taxes, fees or other cost components are already included. You should also check payment deadlines and the validity of the conditions in the respective offer before making a decision. This keeps the price, scope and conditions separately comparable.
