Dobroč lies in the southwest of the Slovak Ore Mountains, in the valley of a left-bank tributary of the Krivánsky potok. A 10-km educational trail, distinctive landscape formations and a traditional village culture give the place several clearly distinguishable facets.

Nature

The Dobročská Valley has steep slopes covered with boulders. Young and old deciduous trees grow among the boulders, while the stream forms small cascades there. The beech forests in Dobroč extend from 400 to 900 m above sea level. Maple, black locust, spruce and rowan are also found here.

History

The first written mention of Dobroč dates from 1393, when the place was called Dobrocha. At the beginning of the second half of the 15th century, the Bratríci occupied the church grounds. They fortified them with a stone wall featuring small loopholes and a deep ditch.
