Hubovo: Cultural Monuments, Landscape and Hotels

Hubovo lies at the transition between the eastern edge of the Rimavská kotlina basin and the eastern part of the Cerová vrchovina highlands, in the valley of a left-bank tributary of the Slaná. The village is home to a Neoclassical Reformed church, a single-nave building with a rectangular apse and no tower, dating from 1776. The church has been renovated, and its grounds are enclosed by a wall. The masonry entrance porch has a triangular gable bearing the year 1935. A wooden bell tower dating from the late 18th century, more precisely from the 1790s, stands on the church grounds. It is a folk architecture structure with a square floor plan and was built without a single nail. In its lower section, it has a wooden tent roof, above which are a wooden arcade superstructure and a slender shingle-clad roof. The Reformed church and the wooden bell tower in Hubovo are listed under number 965 in the register of national cultural monuments. Hubovo is also home to a newer manor house set in a hunting reserve.

Landscape

Hubovo covers an area of 1,082 hectares and is surrounded by forests and hills. The area around Hubovo contains the remains of orchards and vineyards that have passed their former heyday.
