Nature and Landscape
The protected area near Pohanský hrad covers 224 hectares and is considered the most valuable area in the Gemer part of the Cerová vrchovina. The remains of a Celtic stone wall and a rock settlement with 31 pseudokarst caves can also be found near Pohanský hrad.
The Paláska, Magin Hrad, Bik and Kameň mountains are located in the vicinity of Rimavská Sobota District. The observation tower on Maginhrad is 17 metres high and offers views from Kráľova hoľa across the Rimava Valley to Hungary.
The Drienčanský kras educational trail is 7.54 km long, has 15 stations and can be visited independently all year round. It passes through the protected karst area; the Malá drienčanská jaskyňa cave is open to the public, while the nearby Veľká drienčanská jaskyňa cave is not accessible to visitors as it is a wintering site for a bat colony. The educational trail also passes through the protected Hikóriový porast area and then runs along the Teplý Vrch reservoir, on whose shore there is a birdwatching hide.
Hiking and Discovery
The Kurinecká dubina educational trail is suitable for all age groups and offers easy hiking with little elevation gain. It is a 4.55 km circular route starting and ending at the Kurinec bus stop; there is also a shorter option of approximately 2.6 km. The trail includes a viewpoint and ten information panels about local nature, protected areas and changes in the landscape.
The Po stopách Maginhradu educational trail presents a local legend at 12 stations and is accompanied by a storyteller named Bedár. The Zvernica Teplý Vrch educational trail is 2,920 metres long and has eight stations where visitors can learn about fallow deer and mouflon, as well as about flora and fauna.
The observatory in Rimavská Sobota has an astronomical park open to the public, with planet models and an arboretum. In suitable weather, sunspots and the city panorama can be observed through telescopes.

Culture and History
The Gemersko-Malohontské Museum documents the natural and cultural heritage of the Gemer-Malohont region and displays the Egyptian mummy of a woman named Tasheritnetiak from Abusir el-Meleq. Two permanent exhibitions are open to the public there.
The Gothic church in the Malé Teriakovce district has a painted wooden coffered ceiling considered one of the oldest preserved in Slovakia.
The restored water mill in Veľké Teriakovce is a national cultural monument. It serves the public as a regional museum of agriculture, milling, baking and traditional crafts, and houses a collection of Kyjatice toys as well as a traditional Teriakovo room and kitchen.
The remains of Hajnáčka Castle date from the 13th century and stand on a basalt rock above Hajnáčka. The castle can be reached from the village square via a marked route; a short footpath leads from the wooden castle gate to the castle rock. Its well-maintained grounds feature multilingual information panels, wooden railings and steps carved into the rock.
Sokoliarstvo Kanát presents 70 birds of prey, stages falconry demonstrations and enables visitors to have direct contact with birds of prey.
Water and Regional Cuisine
Kurinec-Zelená voda offers swimming in the reservoir or in pools with drinking and geothermal water at 33 °C, a children's pool, a complex of water slides and sports fields. Boats, pedal boats and paddleboards are also available for hire there.
