Večelkov: Nature, Water Reservoir and Hotels

Večelkov is located in the Cerová vrchovina Protected Landscape Area, which includes rare and valuable biotopes. At the same time, the municipality is one of the Slovak municipalities belonging to the Novohrad-Nógrád UNESCO Global Geopark. This brings together protected landscapes, bodies of water, cultural evidence and traces of regional history in and around Večelkov.

Nature

The landscape around Večelkov consists predominantly of treeless hilly terrain. This hilly terrain is often divided by erosion gullies; the underlying geology consists of Tertiary rocks and sandstone. In the western part of the cadastral area, there are scattered beech forests with oaks and black locusts. Protected plants listed for Večelkov include poniklec lúčny černastý, kukučka vencová, kosatec nízky, mechúrnik stromovitý and zlatofúz južný. Several species of the genus kavyľ are also found here.

Water

A large water reservoir lies in the cadastral area of Večelkov, shared with Petrovce and Dubno. The freely accessible section is used by anglers from all over Slovakia and from abroad. During the summer months, the same freely accessible area is used mainly by local residents as a swimming spot.

Culture

A statue of Sándor Petőfi stands in Večelkov. It was created by the academic sculptor Július Mag, who comes from Večelkov. The name of the village is also associated with mining: since the mid-19th century, lignite mines operated in the cadastral area of Večelkov.

The transport connections are also specifically documented. Regional bus route 475 serves the stops Večelkov, OcÚ, and Večelkov on the Fiľakovo–Hajnáčka–Tachty route. Večelkov lies on a road connecting most municipalities in the microregion with the regional centres of Rimavská Sobota, Fiľakovo and Lučenec.

When comparing a hotel or accommodation in Večelkov, take the time to review the specific offer pages carefully. The price components and the booking and cancellation conditions are equally important. If there are several options, it is worth checking the same fields in the same order so that the price and scope of services can be clearly compared side by side. Pay attention to the exact location, the stated type of accommodation and the occupancy. Also check which services are included in the price and which costs are listed separately. Deadlines, payment conditions and any discrepancies between the total price and individual components should also be clearly stated on the respective offer page. This makes it possible to compare different offers using the same information without mixing details from different presentations. For occupancy, the offer page should clearly indicate how many people the stated price applies to and whether additional costs are charged per person, night or stay. Also check whether the stated cancellation deadlines apply to the entire stay and which payment method is provided.
