Zlatá Idka is a destination where history is visible not only in dates and years, but also in buildings, relics and a hike through the mountain landscape. Culture and outdoor activity are presented through clearly named stops and a route with specific key details.
Culture
The bell tower in the Rieka district of Zlatá Idka was built in 1823 as a three-storey rubble-stone structure. It currently houses a museum of local importance. In the Central List of Monuments of Slovakia, the bell tower is registered under entry number 4387. The building's history, its current museum use and its inclusion in the Slovak monument register are therefore among the visible cultural points of reference in the village.
History
The former mine administration building in the Rieka district was built in 1767 in the Baroque style. In the first half of the 19th century, it was converted into a roadside inn. However, the traces of mining are not limited to this building. The ore-bearing area of Zlatá Idka contains quartz-sulfide veins from which gold, silver and antimony were extracted in the past. Mining relics along the Ida River include placer-washing facilities, spoil heaps, prospecting workings and the remains of several operational facilities. The Breuner adit has a stone portal and an entrance area. It is the only very well-preserved mining structure of its kind in this ore district.
Hiking
A moderately difficult circular route leads from Zlatá Idka to the main ridge of the Volovské vrchy mountains and the prominent Kojšovská hoľa. It starts and ends at the bus stop and car park in Zlatá Idka. The tour takes four hours and has an elevation gain of 587 metres. Its route along forest roads and footpaths, as well as the clear marking, are also part of the route details. In addition, Kojšovská hoľa can be reached by SAD buses from Košice via Myslava, Vyšný Klatov and Zlatá Idka. The route therefore combines a circular trail with a clearly named starting and ending point, while the bus connection includes the places mentioned on the way to Kojšovská hoľa.
When comparing hotels in Zlatá Idka, check the exact location, type of accommodation and occupancy on the respective offer page. The included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions are equally important. Also check whether the occupancy matches the planned number of guests, how prices are presented and whether additional costs are listed separately. The conditions may include deadlines, payment timing and possible restrictions that can affect the comparison. The type of accommodation should also clearly correspond to the intended occupancy. This keeps the individual cost items and contractual conditions distinguishable instead of comparing only a total price. A factual comparison of these fields helps assess different offers in relation to your own budget. Review the offers and compare the respective details before booking.
