Branč is located in the Danubian Lowland on the right bank of the Nitra River. The Stará Nitra also flows through the cadastral area.

Culture and History

The sacred monuments in Branč are associated with named individuals and years. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1774 stands in the town; another statue depicts Saint Urban and dates from 1794. The ensemble of Saints Cyril and Methodius was created by the sculptor Gibala and unveiled in 1943. The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was first documented in 1318 as a stone church.

Several archaeological sites are located in the cadastral area of Branč. An extensive Neolithic burial ground of the Lengyel culture is situated there. There is also a burial ground from the Early Bronze Age associated with the Nitra and Únětice cultures. In addition, there is a settlement from the La Tène period.

In the Arkuš district of Branč are the remains of the foundations of medieval residential buildings. North of Branč, in a field in the Veľká Ves cadastral area at the Arkuš location, is the national cultural monument Hrádok (ÚZPF 1398/1), a medieval earthwork castle complex dating from the 12th to the 13th century.

Transport

The town's specific transport connections include rail and road. The Nitra–Nové Zámky railway line runs through Branč. Branč is also located on the main Nitra–Nové Zámky transport route, road I/64.

Winegrowing

The vineyards of Branč have been used for growing grapes for many years. Local residents own so-called “hajloky” in these vineyards, with wine cellars where they produce and store wine.
