Malý Cetín: History, Cycling Route and Hotels
Malý Cetín combines historical place names, sacred buildings and vineyards with a cycling route, an observation tower and seasonal activities at a former branch of the Nitra River. Traces of the past range from archaeological evidence to community events.
Culture and History
The area between Čechynce, Malý Cetín and Veľký Cetín is part of the region's older history: archaeological investigations document settlement there for at least 3,500 years. The names of the landscape also have a documented history. The Cetínka River has been documented since 1240 under the historical name “Cherhen”. In 1272, the area formed by the Cetínka was referred to as “terra Ceten”, meaning the land of Cetín.
Various points of interest stand side by side in the village landscape. The former one-class elementary school building, now the seat of the Malý Cetín municipal office, was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The chapel in Malý Cetín dates from 1965; the Church of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary in Malý Cetín was consecrated in 2008. There is also a statue of Saint Urban in the vineyards of Malý Cetín.
Cycling Route and Views
The cycling route from Nitra to Golianovo branches off toward Malý Cetín. The Golianovo observation tower stands on the Nitra–Vráble cycling route at the border between Malý Cetín and Golianovo. The tower is 22 metres high, open year-round, and admission is free.
The two cycling-route references should be distinguished from one another: The route from Nitra to Golianovo branches off toward Malý Cetín, whereas the observation tower stands on the Nitra–Vráble cycling route at the border between Malý Cetín and Golianovo. The height of 22 metres, as well as the year-round opening and free admission, refer to the tower. For orientation on site, the branch-off, the specific tower location and the stated tower details therefore remain separate pieces of information.
Water and the Seasons
Fishing is possible in summer at the former branch of the Nitra River near Malý Cetín; in winter, the former branch can be used for ice skating.
Community Life
Community life includes a multi-purpose sports field with evening lighting and various events. The municipality of Malý Cetín organizes an Easter table tennis tournament. The event “obecná fašiangová zabíjačka” is also very popular.
Included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions may also be listed differently. Pay attention to the total costs and whether the conditions for the planned stay are clearly formulated. The rules for changes or cancellation should also be presented clearly. Also check which type of accommodation is named, how occupancy is specified, and which services are actually included. Pay attention to whether the stated price applies per night, per person or for the entire stay, and whether additional costs appear separately. For the conditions, deadlines, possible fees and the rules for changes are relevant.
