Michal Nad Žitavou: Hotels, Celtic Graves and the Žitava Floodplain

Michal Nad Žitavou combines archaeological evidence with sacred and secular architecture. A Celtic burial ground was discovered in the local JRD sand pit in Svätý Michal nad Žitavou. More than 20 inhumation graves were recovered from the Celtic burial ground. The Celtic graves contained complete vessels, tools, weapons, jewellery and various small objects.

Culture

The local sand pit also contains numerous Slovak, or Great Moravian, graves from the 9th and 10th centuries.
