Radava at the transition between the Danube Lowland and Danube Hills

Radava and its surroundings lie at the transition from the Danube Lowland to the Danube Hills. Between these two landscape regions, short routes, religious buildings, historic sites and designated cycling routes come together. The combination of the landscape names places the town geographically and provides the framework for the following routes and buildings.

Routes and activities

The nature trail in Radava is approximately 3.993 km long and covers topics relating to regional culture and history, as well as fauna and flora, at nine information stations. In this way, the route combines its path with brief thematic explanations of nature and regional life. The length and number of stations provide two different reference points for the route: its spatial extent and a fixed number of thematic stops.

Radava also has several designated cycling connections. The Radava cycling route 2103 Podhájska–Radava–Podhájska is designated as an easy recreational MTB route. It follows a field track to Radava and there runs for a stretch alongside a church and a wood-carving gallery. The easy cycling route 5102 connects Veľké Lovce, Radava, Podhájska and Čechy. Radava also offers opportunities for agrotourism and horseback riding. This makes both different types of routes and the connections between several places visible.

Culture and history

The Church of the Holy Spirit is a Baroque Roman Catholic church. It was built in 1767 on the foundations of an earlier church building. Inside, an oil painting of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, created by the Viennese painter Franz Schön around 1815, is displayed on a painted column altar.

The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius has a hexagonal floor plan and was built in 1969–1970. Next to the churches stands a historic 19th-century bell tower on four wooden posts. The buildings thus display different floor plans, construction periods and design details.

The townscape also includes vernacular houses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They feature traditional floor-plan and façade characteristics.

Wine

Víno Radava reached its 12th edition in 2026 as a competition exhibition of wines. On April 18, 2026, a public tasting of the competition wine samples was scheduled to take place at the Radava Cultural Centre.
