Culture and History

The Archaeological Museum is housed in a typical old farmhouse with three rooms and presents the results of archaeological research in Svodín. The Busahegy exhibition documents the research conducted by Doc. PhDr. Viera Němejcová-Pavúková from 1971 to 1983 and the discoveries through which the site was classified as a site of worldwide significance. An exhibition of the Archaeological Museum presents the results of archaeological research into St. Michael's Church in the Maďarský Svodín district from 1995 to 2000 and in 2004.

The House of Folk Traditions in Svodín opened on 14 October 2005 and is an external exhibition of the Ján Thain Museum in Nové Zámky. A trough for kneading dough is displayed there; bread was also stored in this trough. The individual object thus points to a specific element of traditional everyday culture.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Svodín was built from 1792 to 1799 in the Louis XVI style and consecrated in 1801. It is in very good condition and continues to serve its intended purpose. The twin-towered St. Michael's Church in Svodín dates from the middle of the 13th century and was destroyed in 1945. The two churches thus represent different historical periods and states of preservation within the history of the municipality.
