Chynorany showcases its natural environment at the Chynoriansky luh Biocentre, which lies within the cadastral area of Chynorany. In both its existing and proposed boundaries, it covers 46 ha. In the wider area, Chynoriansky luh is one of the few remaining examples of oak-elm-ash floodplain forests. The double area figure explicitly refers to both boundaries. Alongside local history, this places a clearly identified natural area with a distinctive forest type at the centre of attention.
Culture
The Ethnographic Museum and the V. Beniak Memorial Room are located on Beniakova Street, on the left at the entrance to Chynorany, on the main road from the direction of Topoľčany or Partizánske. An appointment to visit the exhibitions at the Ethnographic Museum and the V. Beniak Memorial Room can be arranged by telephone. Parking for both facilities is available at the municipal office; from there, it is about a five-minute walk to the museum. This clearly connects the location, appointment arrangements and the walking route described.
The local festival culture includes the “Fašiangy v kroji” carnival event tradition established by Chynorianka. It takes place on the last Saturday before Ash Wednesday. In addition, brass band festivals are held annually in Chynorany. Both event traditions complement the permanent cultural sites with dates rooted in the town’s annual calendar.
The church “Kostol Nanebovzatia Panny Márie” was built between 1784 and 1787 on the site of two older churches. In 1908, it was extended with side aisles. Its construction history therefore includes both the new building in the late 18th century and a later extension at the beginning of the 20th century.
History
Another historical landmark is the Peréniho kúria. Following its restoration, it is privately owned. It was created by converting a salt office and a salt warehouse; some historians believe that the building originated in the 17th century. Its restored condition, current private ownership and presumed history of origin belong to different levels of tradition and use.
