Geographical location
Váhovce lies on the right bank of the Váh River in the Danubian Lowland. The cadastral territory of Váhovce belongs to the Natura 2000 bird protection area SKCHVU010 Kráľová; the Kráľová bird protection area includes the cadastral territory of Váhovce.
Road III/1345 connects Sereď, Dolná Streda, Váhovce and Galanta. There is no direct road connection to the R1 expressway, and Váhovce is not connected to a railway line.

The Kaštieľ Nebojsa manor house is located in the immediate vicinity of Váhovce. The Renesančný kaštieľ, Neogotický kaštieľ and Šintava manor houses are located in the surrounding area. In the wider regional area are the Šanec, Zobor and Holý Vrch mountains; the Plešine hill lies in the vicinity of Váhovce.
Nature
The Váh River, its adjacent floodplains and the Kráľová waterworks shape the local landscape and the hydrological conditions of Váhovce. In the Kráľová bird protection area, aquatic habitats provide suitable conditions for the Black-crowned Night Heron to breed and survive.
Culture and history
Váhovce has been mentioned in written records since 1259. A memorial plaque commemorates the settlement’s first written mention. The historic settlement layout is concentrated mainly along the main road with the church square, along roads branching off at right angles, and in sections near the cemetery.
Older residential buildings from the historic development, with their original architectural appearance, have been preserved in the built-up area of Váhovce. Archaeological finds from the older and younger Iron Age as well as from the Middle Ages have been documented in the territory of Váhovce, including a hoard of silver coins.
The late Baroque Church of Saint Nicholas in Váhovce was built in 1778 on the site of an older church already mentioned in 1669. It has a Neoclassical high altar with a painting of Saint Nicholas, is located in the central historic settlement area of Váhovce, is in good condition, and serves its religious purpose.
The local features also include the late Baroque stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1797 and the Trinity Column, a stone sculptural group from 1914. The Heroes’ Monument from 1939 commemorates those who fell in the First and Second World Wars with memorial plaques. The late Baroque stone statue of Saint Florian dates from 1827 and, according to oral tradition, was erected after the great fire and flood of 1824.
